The end of Free Legacy Google Workspace -- Are you ready?
The end of Google's G Suite legacy is less than a month away. Do you have a migration plan? Or will you upgrade to the new version?
For many of us, upgrading to the paid version of Google Workspace may make sense – it offers a wealth of features at quite a reasonable price and at scale! Prices range from approximately $7 / month / user and prices rise depending on the functionality you're looking for.
For casual users of Legacy Google Workspace, it might not make sense to fork out a monthly fee for e-mail addresses, especially if you have multiple and or aliased addresses, you might not even need all the functionality provided.
If you are looking for a quick replacement Google Workspace we recommend the following to get e-mail, cloud storage and online calendars:
- e-mail: dovecot, postfix, postfixadmin and roundcube (unlimted email addresses)
- storage + webdav calendars: owncloud or nextcloud
A very simple installation can be setup running on a cloud machine that would cost $5/month at a cloud provider such as Linode or DigitalOcean and there are many tutorials on the internet to setup your own cloud mail and file storage system – all you need is your own domain name and a cloud account.
For those that are interested in a migration experiment, we also offer trial setups on cloud machines to allow you to determine if these solutions are right for you.
